Here is my Rhythm Games guide for 4 Key/Dance!
What to avoid unless casual play
Ok so, here is a list of what you have to avoid unless you want to play casually, please note that I tried to look into these objectively, so take this list with a grain of salt
- osu!mania
- Friday Night Funkin'
Ok so, I want to start to look into why you shouldn't play this unles you want to have a casual experience
osu!mania
- I find the timing windows a bit too akward
- No color coding wich makes it hard to read dense patterns
- Jumpstream will be the category you will see the most
Friday Night Funkin'
- Unoptimized af
- Also no color coding
- Haxe has input delay wich is fatal for rhythm games
What to play if you are here to play more seriously
Ok so now that we have gone through what we shouldn't play, how about what we Should play
- Generally StepMania based games/builds
- Quaver
Yeah, as you can see, there are kinda 2 on each one, but I will go into detail on StepMania based games/builds later
For now, let's just mention general stuff on why I recommend both
StepMania based games/builds
- Color Coding wich makes reading dense patterns easy
- You can do anything with skinning and themeing, even creating a game without modifying the game itself
- Customizable timing windows and also many debug options
Quaver
- Also has Color Coding
- Less skinning/themeing possibilities but it's a bit pretty
- Also has customizable timing windows
